This picture is a high resolution radiometric scan of the western edge of the site. This is the area that contains the Palaeoproterozoic rocks (Microgranite, Andesite, Intrusives). This area is elevated and is the hard rock portion of the site (as opposed to the flatter sediments/volcanics that make up the NE part of the site).
The Potassium (Red), Thorium (Green) and Uranium (Blue) were combined into a composite image as shown here.
This image can be understood as follows:
- Red = high potassium with low uranium and thorium
- Blue = high uranium with low potassium and thorium
- Green = high thorium with low potassium and uranium
- Cyan = high thorium and uranium with low potassium
- Magenta = high potassium and uranium with low thorium
- Yellow = high potassium and thorium with low uranium
- Black = low potassium, thorium and uranium
- White = high potassium, thorium and uranium.
The area that is of most interest is the northern portion. Further examinion is required, but the average readings and peaks for the U, Th and K data are above the typical radioelement concentrations for intrusive rock classes. The northern anomalies have no geological explanatyion for their existinse and again requires further investigation.
